Seventeen Months

Wyatt hit the 17 month mark this week. He is my little busy boy, always on the go, always getting into something. This past week, he has started to really try to talk. One night, after telling him, "I love you," he repeated it back to me! It was a teary, beautiful moment, even if he was just mimicking what I had just said to him. This weekend, clear as day, he said "want that" to Jeff. He does say "Da-da" now, without much prodding (I'm pretty sure Jeff is happy about that!). And his new favorite word, although not always used correctly, is "NO," and oh how I love that word! All day, "Wyatt, put that back," "NO," "Wyatt, please put that down," "NO." :) "Wyatt, get off the kitchen table," "NO." I guess he has heard it often enough in his little lifetime, that it figures it is the one word he uses regularly.

He loves to run and explore now. He has discovered the great outdoors, and likes to help do yardwork. As long as he can hold some sort of tool, he is right in on the action! He "helped" me pull weeds last week, and pick up sticks in the yard. Of course he became slightly dangerous once the stick was in his hand! He loves his swing and any slides, he loves to go to the playground. He really loves to be around other kids.

Wyatt also has discovered the joy of crayons and markers. He found Noah's markers one day left unattended on his little table, and made a wonderful piece of art all over the tabletop! Luckily, they are really washable markers! Now that those are hidden out of his reach, I let him color with crayons on paper. When the crayons aren't going into his mouth, he loves to scribble. He appears to be right handed, unlike Noah who is a definite lefty. Well, this morning, he decided to color on the living room wall. I'm hoping my Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works well!

He keeps me on my toes, but is such a sweet little boy. He is SO snuggly! He loves nuzzle his head right in that crook of your neck, and just wraps himself right around you. He loves to feel things, like rubbing his finger on my neck, or his thumb on Jeff's stubble. He carries around his "burpie" (a burpcloth) almost all the time, and rubs his face on it when he is sad, hurt, or sleepy. And as he is falling asleep, he rubs the corner of it between his thumb and finger. He loves to give me kisses now, without being asked!

It is amazing to see how much he has grown in the past 17 months. My baby is growing up too fast, and is turning into a little boy! I love every moment with him, both the trying and the wonderful times. I am so looking forward to seeing what the future holds for him and what kind of person he will become. I just hope that he always remembers he has a Mommy and Daddy that have loved him from the moment they knew him, and will love him for who he is forever! Happy 17 months, my Wyatt-bug.
