Turkey Day

Hope that everyone had a nice holiday. We actually didn't celebrate until Saturday, because I had to work on Thanksgiving night. So, we had a belated day, as well as an early one.

When Jeff's brother was home from Japan in September, we had an early Thanksgiving. It was actually kind of nice to celebrate it early and spread out the huge meals over a couple of months. Maybe we should try that every year?!

We were at my parent's house to celebrate this year. Noah and Tristan had a great time playing together. It is so fun to watch them growing up together, and having such a good time with eachother. It is still so crazy to think of my sister and I having kids playing together, it seems like we were just that age playing our make-believe games and with our toys! We could probably have never have imagined then that we would be where we are today. We hope that we can try to get together a lot more often so the boys can spend more time with eachother.

Wyatt enjoyed his first Thanksgiving. Although he didn't eat most of the feast, he had some mashed sweet potatoes. And he ate more sweet potatoes, and MORE sweet potatoes, and MORE sweet potatoes! I think he approved of his first Turkey Day. Now the plans are in the works for his first birthday. I only have 5 days left, and have nothing ready for the big day! I need to get moving. It isn't going to be anything big, but coming up with a menu for our allergies (no dairy, eggs, nuts, fish, and possibly soy and wheat), plus two vegetarians, is not proving to be very easy! I hope to come up with my plan in the next couple of days...any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

As for the allergies... As most of you know, Noah is severely allergic to milk/dairy, eggs, almonds/tree nuts, peanuts, fish, and shellfish. We found this out when he turned one and had milk for the first time, although looking back I see all the signs of his allergies now. When I got pregnant with Wyatt, I was supposed to assume that he would also have these same allergies. So, since I was breastfeeding, I have had to be free of all of these foods. So far things with Wyatt had been going well, besides eczema (also a sign of allergies). At some point in October, he seemed to get hives with soy formula, so I am questioning whether or not he may have an allergy. Then, just a week or two ago, he had a reaction while he was in his high chair eating crackers, so I am questioning a wheat allergy. It is so hard to tell if it is really a food allergy, or if maybe he had just gotten into a kitty spot on the couch or something. Needless to say, we are hoping that he can be allergy tested soon! It is so hard to not know what he really can and can't have. We go to the doctor for his one-year check up in two weeks. I tried to take him in last week, but the doctor ended up having a family emergency and our appointment was cancelled. I figured we could wait two weeks, but the wait is driving me nutty!

Wyatt is well on his way to walking. He took a couple of steps a couple times this weekend. And he LOVES it! You can tell just watching him that he is so frustrated that he can't get any further by himself. Oh boy, are we in trouble when he can run! He is so fast just crawling. His newest word in his vocabulary, other than 'ma-ma,' 'bwa-bwa (Noah/brother),' 'keehee(kitty),' 'pa-pa,' (sorry Jeff he really hasn't said da-da yet) is 'wow' and 'oh-wow.' It is so funny! We noticed him saying it on Thursday, but it became more and more used as the weekend went on. Jeff's family witnessed it on Sunday afternoon when all Wyatt wanted to do was play with the DVD player and remote controls and stairs and anything breakable!! It is whenever he sees anything that he likes or wants, he says it! I have to make sure to get it on video before he is done saying it.

All in all, we had a very enjoyable holiday. Now it is time for me to catch up on some laundry and make some party preparations. I can't believe my sweet little baby is turning one already.
