Twenty Months with the Bug

How has it gone by this fast? How have you been with us for twenty months now? Although, at the same time, it feels like you have been a part of our lives forever. My sweet little Wyatt, what can I say about you. When you are staying out of trouble, you are the sweetest, snuggliest, most adorable little child ever (besides your brother, that is). But then those little horns peek out, and you become some other wild child! You don't hear my voice, you scream "no," you pull everything off shelves and out of cupboards, you dump all the toys out all over the floor, and to top it all off, you smile through it all!! Oh how you love to make messes!! :) And you are such a goofball!!

This past month, you have really started trying to talk. It was becoming so frustrating to you (and Daddy and me) to not be able to communicate with us. You weren't even trying to say the words for what you wanted, and if we couldn't figure it out before you thought it, you went into complete meltdown mode. Now, you are trying to say almost every word that is said to you. You are trying SO hard! Your favorites right now are No-ah, Melmo (Elmo), Mow (Kitty), Nuh-No (Uh Oh), Thank Ooo (thank you), Ahh See Ooo (peek-a-boo), Thas Coo (that's cool, where did he pick that up??) and Tinky (stinky, pointing to your diaper). So cute!! You have also started pulling me into the kitchen and pointing at the cupboards or refrigerator if you are hungry and thirsty. It amazes me how quickly you seem to have picked up this language thing! I think you've been hiding it for a long time now!

You have become so expressive, and it is so fun to see all of the new faces that you discover you can make!

You are also quick! You are running everywhere now. And, unfortunately, still LOVE climbing! You love to climb out of your high chair after dinner now, making Daddy and I crazy! You have learned how to detach the tray all by yourself, and get right out. I guess we'll have to use the straps now(bad mommy and daddy that we haven't been!). Noah is your best friend right now, and you love to try and do everything that he does, which gets you into trouble a lot of the time!!

We tried swimming lessons this summer, and you were not really a fan. It was okay, especially in the 90+ degree weather, but you definitely would rather just do your own thing in the water. You loved jumping in and playing with toys in the water, but blowing bubbles and going underwater...no way!!

You have some favorites now:
  • You LOVE Elmo! Anytime Elmo comes on TV or in a book, you just squeal "Mel-Mo" and dance. You love that Elmo is on your diapers, and have to check him out at every diaper change!
  • You love the books, I Love You, Stinky Face, and Click, Clack, Moo. You even say "ick, ack, moo," when you want to read it. You are so cute when you want someone to read to you. You start backing up to anyone's lap, then plop yourself down, grab their hand, and put the book in their hand, expecting them to read it to you (you usually only make it through one or two pages of most books)!
  • You love our cat, Galileo. Saying "Hey-yo, Kiki" or "Ba-bye, Kiki" whenever he goes in and out of a room. You love to give him pat-pats, and are so gentle with him!
  • You really like trucks. If a truck goes by on the street or we pass it in the car, you get so excited!!
  • You love looking at pictures, and get so excited to see them. Our screensaver on the computer is set to shuffle through our thousands of pictures, and you sit in front of the computer squealing and pointing whenever a new one appears. You are quickly learning everyone's names, even if you only see them occasionally! You love to see pictures of Gigi (my Grandma, your great Gram).
  • You love to dance to music of any kind. You actually have pretty good rhythm for a little one!

I love you my sweet boy, and I look forward to all the months we have ahead. You amaze me everyday, and I know you will continue to amaze me for the rest of our time together! Your curiousity and amazement at everything is so much fun to watch. I love you, Wyatt. Happy 20 months, my baby boy!!
