Kindergarten

It has started, and Noah loves it. He is on his third day today! He absolutely loves riding the bus, and now gets to ride it to and from school. Originally it was planned that there was no after school bus for the kids on our street on the way home, which meant I'd be picking him up everyday. But, since there were 4 kindergarteners on our street in morning kindergarten, they decided to add them to a bus route. I didn't realize how nice that would be, not having to provide the transportation five days a week. Wyatt and I have time to enjoy a few hours with each other and I think that will be great!

So, what do I know about his experience so far?? He loves his teacher, and really loves all the singing and playing guitar that he does for the class. Noah came home on Friday singing 3 different songs that they learned that day. After hearing them over and over a few times, I realized they actually were teaching something...one was clapping/counting syllables, one for rhyming, the other for the alphabet and counting. Oh, he is loving all of it! I definitely think the right teacher was chosen for him!

Surprisingly, as much as I was not ready for him to go, I have done well! He was so excited to start, it was really hard to not get excited for him. The first morning, he was running around, jumping, then really quiet while he was eating his breakfast (which he couldn't finish, much like me as a kid on the first day of school!). I asked him if he was still excited or if he was nervous. His answer, "In the middle." :) He got more excited as it got closer to bus time. Then at the bus stop he seemed pretty nervous again, but got on the school bus with no trouble (along with the other 15 kids at the bus stop! There is an obvious misbalance in our neighborhood, all boys but 2 at the bus stop!) I would probably have been more emotional if there weren't that many people around, but I definitely felt sad/happy/worried/anxious, not sure what?! Now I am doing well. He really does seem to like it, and so far, no complaints at all from him about anything. Not much more I can ask for. I don't know what I was so worried about!
